Why Sell Medicare Plans?
- Excellent Agent Commissions . . . PLUS . . . Residual Income
- Medicare is the fastest growing insurance industry
- Year ’round selling opportunities
- 11,400 people are turning 65 every day
When Medicare was first established in 1966, there were 19 million people enrolled in the program. At the end of 2016, more than 56 million were enrolled. With roughly 11,000 individuals who are Baby Boomers “aging into” Medicare every day, the market for Medicare related coverage continues to grow and is actually exploding. That’s a lot of opportunity!
In spite of these opportunities in the marketplace, there are fewer insurance agents today serving the market. The pool of agents is spread thin in addressing the needs of this growing market segment.
Not only is the agent population changing, but the approach to selling is also changing. A “kitchen table sale” was fairly common in days past, but not so anymore as Seniors are increasingly uncomfortable inviting strangers into their homes. And today’s Senior is technology savvy utilizing cell phones and the internet daily. Seniors are well informed.
Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans are a great door-opener for life and annuity sales. Many MAPD and PDP pay lifetime renewals which allows an agent to build a retirement plan on renewal income. Wasn’t that a lure to become an Agent in the first place?

Clearly, you cannot afford to ignore this market.
